Our client, a reputable player in the retail and food service supply chain, is looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join their team. Position Overview:

The Technical Manager plays a vital role as the technical lynchpin within the company. This role encompasses the efficient management of all aspects of the company's external customer and third-party approval, food safety/quality systems, and hygiene standards. The chosen professional will handle department budget, coach the technical team, and work hand in hand with other teams to keep everything running smoothly.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the Technical Department to execute business goals and KPIs.
  • Ensure robust technical relations with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, NPD, and supplier auditing colleagues.
  • Provide prompt and effective solutions to all technical matters, including quality and food safety issues.
  • Work closely with retailers and ensure that site is audit ready.
  • Offer technical advice and suggestions throughout the organisation.
  • Act as the liaison between customers and Enforcing Authorities
  • Assure compliance with food safety, food hygiene legislation, HACCP, and quality management systems.

Requirements:

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Food Science/Technology or similar
  • Advanced qualifications in Food Safety and Food Hygiene
  • Experience working closely with major retailers
  • Ability to apply knowledge of food safety and food hygiene legislation, including HACCP.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and persuading skills.
  • Strong organisational, motivational, and time management skills
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing a technical function.
